(Spirit Lake)– A new group has been formed in the Iowa Great Lakes to promote safety on the water.
Phil Petersen is one of the founders of the Iowa Great Lakes Water Safety Council. He says the group was formed to provide information to the general public on water safety issues, and to help support the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Lakes Patrol.
Petersen says they’ve established a website that has information pertaining to boating information and regulations; the new personal watercraft certification process for those 12 to 18 years old; communicating on the water; dock requirements; hypothermia; personal floatation devices; sailing; and so on.
The address of the web page is www.watersafetycouncil.org.
