A 13 year veteran of the Estherville Lincoln Central school board has tendered his resignation. Gary Feddern says he’s retiring to Texas. The school board will appoint Mike Karels to fill the vacancy until the regular September school board election is held and the public can elect a replacement. The filing period began yesterday and remains open until August 4th.

There’s a new deputy patroling the roads of Palo Alto County. John King was officially sworn in as deputy July 5th by Sheriff Denny Goeders. King was on the Emmetsburg police department five years. Goeders says King is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy,and is certified in both clandestine methamphetamine lab research and physical conflict resolution. King also served as supervisor of the reserve unit in the Emmetsburg police department.
Sheriff Goeders says Deputy King will bring valuable law enforcement experienece and will be a great asset to the citizens of Palo Alto County.
