(Spirit Lake)– Neighbors of a residence at 1209 Lake Drive in Spirit Lake that’s been converted to resort-like rental units aired concerns at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake City Council meeting.
They called on the council to reconsider action taken earlier this month allowing the operation to continue this coming summer.
Saying the council heard only one side of the story at their last meeting, Joy Janachovsky and other neighbors expressed complaints over noise, parking problems, barking dogs, speeding boats and so on.
The owners of the operation, which is being advertised on the internet, wasn’t present at Tuesday evening’s meeting.
Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says he’ll schedule a meeting with the owners and neighbors to see if something can be worked out to address the concerns. Otherwise, the issue will probably wind up in court.
The operation falls under somewhat of a gray area in the city’s zoning ordinance, which is being researched. The comercial-like operation is taking place in an area zoned residential.
