Nearly 40 Divers Participate In U Of O Ecology Dive

(Arnolds Park)– The bottom of the University of Okoboji is cleaner today thanks to the efforts this past weekend of scuba divers.

The annual Ecology Dive was held Saturday as part of the annual University of Okoboji Homecoming activities.

Pat Nelson of Bluewater Divers in Arnolds Park tells KUOO news 37 scuba divers from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Texas participated this year.

First place for the most items brought up–295–went to Randy Lyman of Sanborn and Kelly Bettelyaun of Omaha.

The heaviest item was an old wooden buoy; most historical was a bottle from the 1800’s; most unique was an antique muffler and the largest item was a patio umbrella.
