(Okoboji)– A committee looking into the feasibility of establishing a municipal telecommunications utility in Spirit Lake, Orleans, Wahpeton, Arnolds Park and Okoboji held it’s second official meeting Thursday.
Pat McNorton, Chairman of the Opportunity is Calling Committee, says they adopted a request for proposals to be sent to prospective engineering firms interested in doing a feasibility study.
The RFP will now be reviewed by Earl Maahs, OCC Attorney, before being mailed out to firms.
McNorton says they hope to mail out the RFP’s around the first of March. The firms will be given a deadline of May 4th in which to reply.
McNorton says the OCC will meet again May 6th when they’ll review the engineering proposals. He says they’ll narrow the list of prospective firms to two or three, which they’ll call in for interviews. After that, a finalist will be selected. That firm will then be asked to give a presentation at a joint meeting of all five city councils.
