(Spirit Lake)– The filing deadline for November’s city elections is quickly approaching. Candidates must return nomination papers to their respective city clerks by 5:00 p.m. today (Thurs.). The clerks then have until 5:00 p.m. Friday in which to file the information with the County Auditor.
All Mayoral seats and many council positions are up for election.
In West Okoboji, council seats held by Mike Paxton and Paul Sieh are up for election; in Lake Park, council seats held by Tony Peterson, Mike Treharne and Lance Heikens are on the ballot. Mayor Ann Dittsworth has indicated she is NOT seeking re-election.
In Superior, council seats held by Susan Muilenberg, James Tendal and Terry Buchman are up for election; in Terril, council seats held by Tim Fairchild and Ken Trojahn will appear on the ballot.
Three city council seats in Orleans will be up for election. They’re currently held by Eric Anderson, Jack Platter and Brian Ford.
In Spirit Lake, council seats held by Barb Ricke and Duane Yager are up for election; Arnolds Park also has two council seats up for election–they’re currently held by Mitch Watters and Mike Koppert.
In Wahpeton, council seats held by Wayne Johnson, James Keck and Thomas Rierson are up for election; three seats will be on the ballot in Okoboji–those are currently held by Sharlene Eckard, David Thoreson and Susan Larsen.
And in Milford, council seats currently held by Teresa Netsch, Mike Anderson and Howard “Bud” Kyle are on the ballot, along with a vacancy created when Detlef Ball moved out of town.
