(Spirit Lake)– Some newly developed areas of Spirit Lake will be seeing the light.
The city council Tuesday voted to enter an agreement with Alliant Energy to install decorative lights similar to those along Lake Street and Hill Avenue in several areas undergoing development. Those include Zenith Avenue from 23rd to 32nd street; 30th street from Zenith to Aurora Avenue; Peoria Avenue from near the mall and fire station to 23rd street; and along 29th through 32nd streets west of Hill Avenue…a total of 83 fixtures.
Under the deal, the city will pay Alliant 7,848-dollars a month over ten years. The company will own, maintain and operate the lights. After the ten years, the city would be able to buy the lights for roughly 19-thousand dollars.
