(Spirit Lake)– Air quality in the courthouse came up again at Tuesday’s Dickinson County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Mike Raner, Safety Director for SHIELD, a workplace safety program, told the supervisors one of four samples sent to a lab last winter came back positive for mold. The sample was taken from a third floor hallway. Raner said moisture for the mold is coming from a leak in the roof in that area…which will be fixed this summer. Raner also recommended the affected area be scraped and painted, that ventilation be increased, and a de-humidifier installed. The supervisors said they’d look into doing that.
Raner said the mold does not pose a serious health risk…but he said it could be an irritant to anyone passing through the hall that’s allergic to the substance.
