Mirror Maze To Re-Open At Arnolds Park

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– One of Arnolds Park’s original and most popular attractions will once again be open to the public…just in time for the Fourth of July.

The Mirror Maze has been completely restored and will reopen in its original location this Saturday, July 3rd.

Jim Frost of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum, which owns and operates the park, tells KUOO news the Mirror Maze is being reopened as the result of a public outcry. The attraction was shut down last year and replaced with a gift shop…something Frost says didn’t sit well with many people.

Frost says fortunately no one got rid of any of the glass reflective panels…which have been completely reassembled. Frost added the floor is being re-painted to make it more difficult to find your way out. In the past, people were able to follow the worn paint.

Another upcoming event at the park will have special meaning to the family and friends of the late Captain Steve Kennedy. Frost says a life-size statue of Kennedy, with two children standing at his side, will be unveiled during a ceremony at 10:00 a.m. July 10th.

The statue will be located at the State Pier at the end of Lake Street in the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
