(Spirit Lake)– Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Friday on Highways nine and 71 near Pure Fishing in Spirit Lake.
Police say vehicles driven by 41-year-old Terri McPhearson of Spirit Lake and 20-year-old Austin Smith of Sioux Rapids collided in a rear-end type collision. Minor injuries were reported to both drivers, who refused immediate treatment.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Smith and to a 1998 Pontiac driven by McPhearson.
Smith was charged with following too closely.
The mishap took place shortly before 3:00 p.m. Friday.
A three-vehicle mishap shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Highways nine and 71 and Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake resulted in minor injuries.
Police say it involved vehicles driven by 84-year-old Anita Brown of Spirit Lake; 21-year-old Alberta Nolan of Beloit, Wisconsin and 21-year-old Nicholas Vandersluis of Ames. Minor injuries were reported to the drivers and a passenger in one of the vehicles. All of them apparently declined immediate treatment. Brown was charged with failure to yield while making a left-turn.
Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1991 Oldsmobile driven by Brown; a 1988 Buick LeSabre driven by Nolan sustained an estimated three thousand dollars in damage; and 2,500-dollars was estimated to a 1999 Dodge driven by Vandersluis.
The mishap took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
