(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported in a house fire Sunday night in Spirit Lake.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the Kristi Riley residence at 509 22nd Street at 8:49 p.m. Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says there was a report of a fire in an upstairs bedroom, but it had been extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.
Jorgenson says a hot light bulb on a lamp is the probable cause. He says it came into contact with some flammable items on a dresser, starting it on fire. Damage was contained to the bedroom and dresser.
Jorgenson says the Rileys weren’t home when the fire broke out, and didn’t discover it until they returned. He says it’s fortunate they got back when they did, or the damage probably would have been much worse.
Firefighters were on the scene about a half-hour.
