Minor Damage Reported In Lake Park Grocery Store Fire

November 23, 2014

(Lake Park)– Lake Park’s only grocery store sustained minor damage as the result of a small fire Thursday evening.

Fire Chief Kurt Anderson tells KUOO news his department was called to Main Street Market on Market Street around 6:45 p.m. Anderson says some towels next to some plastic wrap in a kitchen area in the rear of the store somehow started on fire…possibly as the result of spontaneous combustion.

Anderson says there was very little fire actually…mostly smoke. He says the building incurred only minor smoke damage and no injuries were reported.

The fire took place while the store was closed. Anderson says somebody walking by the front door happened to see smoke and called authorities.

Anderson says the cause is under investigation.

The Lake Park Fire Department was at the scene about a half hour.
