Millworks Fire

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake fire department was called to the scene of a ductwork fire Thursday at Jackson Millworks on Highway 71 South.

Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson tells KUOO news workers had most of the fire extinguished when firefighters arrived. Firefighters went up on the roof to extinguish the rest of it. Damage was very minimal.

Jorgenson believes the fire was started accidentally by some workers who were on the roof.

An ambulance stood by at the scene as a precaution…but no injuries were reported. Authorities were concerned because of a large amount of highly volatile chemicals that were in the building.

Firefighters were at the scene about an hour Thursday.
