Milford Vows To Catch Illegal Dumpers

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The city of Milford is once again threatening to get tough on people illegally dumping trash and other items at the city’s yard waste drop-off site.

Officials say furniture, helium tanks and even a roof from a building have shown up recently at the site located at the city’s maintenance building.

City Administrator Brian Reed told the city council earlier this week an Arnolds Park man was recently caught dumping off trees at the site. He was billed for the dumping.

City officials are once again toying with the idea of installing security cameras at the site to catch more offenders red-handed.

The city council looked into that possibility a year ago when the same problem was taking place, but decided it wouldn’t be worth the seven thousand dollars that was quoted at that time to install such a system. City officials say they may have leads now on a system that isn’t nearly as costly.

Reed believes most of the dumping is being done by people who don’t live in Milford.
