(Milford)– With one member absent, the Milford Planning and Zoning Commission Wednesday tabled any recommendation to the city council on a proposed keyholing ordinance. The council has already held two readings of the ordinance, but they need the blessings of the commission before it can be adopted because it deals with zoning.
Several residents of Lower Gar Lake were on hand for the meeting. Most want the ordinance adopted to help control access to the lake. They site congestion and environmental concerns. But one resident, Don Van Ohrt, said the ordinance isn’t needed because the area is zoned single family residential, which limits the amount of lake access.
Last night was the first commission members had seen the proposed ordinance. Chairman Eric Wahlman said they wanted more time to review it.
After tabling the keyholing issue, the commission voted unanimously to approve the final plat of Lower Gar…a subdivision on another part of Lower Gar that’s separate from one on the south side that would include a marina. That upset many of those in the crowd, who thought the action should have been delayed until formal action is taken on the proposed keyholing ordinance. The city council has already approved the final plat.
