(Arnolds Park)– One person was injured in a boat accident late Saturday night near the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say vessels operated by Landon Luchtel of Milford and Jordan Mabra collided in the area of Pillsbury Point on West Lake Okoboji shortly before 11:30 p.m.
It’s not certain where Mabra is from.
Luchtel was injured and was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no word on the extent of his injuries.
No injuries were reported to Mabra or the passengers in his boat, identified as Thad Clabaugh, Kevin Klingbeil and Nicholas Pierce, who’s addresses weren’t immediately available. Authorities say Luchtel was alone in his boat.
Both boats sustained significant damage.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was assisted by the Arnolds Park Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue, Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
The boats have been impounded.
The incident remains under investigation.
