(Spirit Lake)– A Milford man has been charged in connection with a high speed pursuit that started in Spirit Lake and ended in Jackson county, Minnesota.
Authorities say it started around 8:44 this (Tues.) morning when a Spirit Lake police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle on the east edge of town for a serious traffic violation. Authorities say the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a high speed chase that went east on Highways nine and 71 and north on Highway 71 in Jackson county, Minnesota, where the Minnesota State Patrol and Jackson County sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle by deploying stop sticks.
The driver was identified as James Oliver Nathan, Junior of Milford. He was transported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office where he’s being held on charges there. Nathan also faces faces charges from the Spirit Lake Police Department for eluding a pursuing law enforcement officer, driving while revoked, driving while suspended, reckless driving and minor traffic offenses.
The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
