Milford Council Tables Rides Requests; Defers Action On Zoning Amendment

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– Saying they want to know exactly how many residents use the service, the Milford City Council Monday tabled a request for funding assistance from RIDES. Faced with a cut in funding from the state, the regional transit system is approaching cities for assistance. Under a per capita system, Milford’s share would amount to 7,500-dollars.

In other business, the council adopted a resolution last night that allows all-terrain-vehicles to be used for snow removal. A previous ordinance outlawed the machines on city street after plowing.

The council also referred a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance back to the Planning and Zoning Commission. It would allow storage buildings in arterial commercial districts…including Highway 71. The buildings would have to be atleast 150 feet away from the highway. In referring the matter back to the commission, council members said they want stipulations added to deal with parking, aesthetics and other issues.
