(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday evening accepted a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission to approve a final plat for the Farmer’s Savings Bank project on Highway 71 north. It’s subject to a few conditions identified by the P & Z. The council also approved a developer’s agreement for the project.
The council reviewed a draft of specifications to be required for streets in subdivisions. It places most of the responsibility and costs on the developer. The council is looking for public input and comments from the Street Department prior to adopting the guidelines.
In other business, the council set April 26 and 27th as the dates for spring clean-up days; approved a request from the Commercial Club to hold a street dance in the parking lot east of Web Graphics in conjunction with Pioneer Days; they set April 11th as the date for a bidletting on sealcoating streets between Highway 71 and “K” Avenue and between sixth and 13th streets and to do some crack filling near the high school and West View Drive. The projects are to be completed by August 15th. The contractor won’t be allowed to do any work during the University of Okoboji Bike Ride or Pioneer Days.
The council also gave the go-ahead for the Street Department to do some tree trimming on city-owned right-of-way, as long as adjoining property owners are notified.
And they approved a request from the Okoboji school board to close a block of seventh street near the Elementary school. The cost of replacing high back curb with a surmountable one would be the school’s responsibility. The school will also have to pay for barricades…the style of which must first be approved by the city.
