(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday reaffirmed its prior decision NOT to hold a city-wide clean-up event this year.
Last month the council voted four-to-one against the event which costs the city thousands of dollars. Councilman Bud Kyle says he’s changed his mind after a large number of phone calls from Milford residents. He feels Milford prides itself on being a clean community and the city-wide clean-up encourages people to rid their yards of junk they otherwise might not get rid of, and that the city gets good P.R. from providing the service.
Kyle’s motion to reconsider the vote died for lack of a second.
Councilwoman Theresa Netsch says people can rent garbage dumpsters and tag furniture and appliances for curbside pick-up year-round and don’t have to wait for a yearly event to tidy up, and the yearly free pick up isn’t fair to Milford citizens who pay for the service the rest of the year.
