Milford Council Cuts RIDES Funding

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– Milford residents that use the RIDES transit service to get from one place to another will need to find another source of transportation after the first of July.

The city council Monday voted four-to-nothing to deny a 7,125-dollar funding request from RIDES.

Councilman Lyn Johnson was absent.

Councilman Detlef Ball says not enough people were using the service to make it worthwhile for the city to contribute to the program.

Ball and other council members say the amount of funding requested by RIDES from each lakes area city should be based on the number of people using the service. Currently it’s based on population.
