(Milford)– Parking hours in the downtown area was a topic of discussion at Monday’s Milford City Council meeting. City Administrator Brian Reed says the council is considering banning parking between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. along a one block stretch of 10th and ninth streets either side of Highway 71. Reed says it would make it easier for city crews to do maintenance in those areas. The council will formally consider the ordinance at a later date.
The council is also thinking about revising the city’s ordinance on garbage collection to reflect changes in billing procedures and on how apartments are served.
The council denied a request from the Okoboji School Board to close seventh street south of the elementary school. Reed says the council will meet with board members to talk about other safety options that could be implemented in that area.
The council also reviewed the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. It has a levy of $11.91 per thousand dollars’ valuation…compared to $10.87 currently. Reed says there’s a possibility the levy could be reduced as budget talks continue.
