(Milford)– A project to install two additional culverts at the Lower Gar Outlet six inches above the height of the weir is another step closer to reality.
The Milford city council Monday voted unanimously to adopt plans and specifications for the project. The Dickinson county board of supervisors gave their approval last week. Approval was also needed from the city as it has jurisdiction over the outlet.
County Engineer Dan Eckert told the supervisors he’s still confident the project can completed yet this fall, with the exception of paving the road, which he says will need to wait until next spring.
The next step is a bidletting, which Eckert says is still atleast several weeks away due to various procedures and deadlines that need to be followed. The bidletting will be held at a joint meeting of the city council and board of supervisors, as each entity must also approve the bid. Other than a hydrology study from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Eckert says all the necessary forms and permits are in place. Eckert added the bidletting can proceed even without the hyrdology report, but council members want to meet in a joint session with the supervisors provided there are any concerns over it.
