(Milford)– Milford residents can expect a slight decrease in their tax bills in the upcoming fiscal year.
The city council Monday adopted the budget for the upcoming fiscal year following a public hearing. City Administrator Brian Reed says the tax levy for the 2006 fiscal year budget will be about $11.55 per thousand dollars valuation…down from $11.79 currently.
Reed sites an increase in property values for bringing the levy down.
He says the budget reflects a major street-lighting and and possible sidewalk project along Highway 71 from the Catholic Church north to Highway 86 and from about Seventh Street south to the city limits.
In other business, the council adopted the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan; and they approved a pass-through agreement for RAGBRAI. The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa will pass through Milford Monday, July 25th enroute from Sheldon to Estherville.
