(Spirit Lake)– The District Superintendent of the Iowa Methodist Church is in trouble with the law as the result of an incident in Spirit Lake earlier this week.
53-year-old Marcia Sangel of Spencer has been charged with assault for allegedly striking a Spirit Lake woman.
Spirit Lake police say they were called to a disturbance shortly before 9:00 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 800 block of 24th Street.
Police say Sangel had gone to the residence to retrieve some boxes and that she allegedly struck a female occupant of the residence when she refused to let her in.
Sangel was booked into the Dickinson county jail. She has since been released on bond.
Authorities say the victim did not require medical treatment.
