(Spencer)– A methamphetamine bust in Clay county this past weekend is one for the record books.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it started with a traffic stop on county road M-53 around 2:00 a.m. Saturday that resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Michelle Knudson of rural Linn Grove. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 2,275-dollars.
Authorities say the traffic stop led to the execution of a search warrant on the residence of Knudson and 42-year-old Douglas Stoermer. Over three pounds of methamphetamine was seized along with about 18-thousand dollars in cash, large quantities of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and weapons.
Stoermer and Knudson were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver-methamphetamine; failure to affix appropriate tax stamps; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver-marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for each was set at 141,700-dollars.
Authorities say the methamphetamine that was seized has a value of nearly 150-thousand dollars…the largest ever in Clay county.
