(Spencer)– Officials with Menards have announced their intention to open a store in Spencer.
Tom O’Neill is a real estate association for Menards. He told Danielle Hitchings of sister station KDWD Hot 100 in Spencer that it’s still early in the process, but they are getting closer to opening a store in Spencer. He says they’re working on surveys, soil tests and environmental studies on the proposed site for the store, which is on 80 acres of land owned by Red Crib Farms on Spencer’s south side. The land would have to be annexed into the city.
The store would be more than 160-thousand square feet with a 70-thousand square foot lumber warehouse. It would employ about 150 people–half part-time and half part-time.
If things go accordingly, O’Neil says construction could start late this summer or early fall with the hopes of a grand opening in Spring of next year.
