(Des Moines)– Your cable bill is about to go up substantially.
Mediacom television subscribers in Iowa will see bills jump by $2 to $3 starting in December.
Mediacom spokeswoman Phyllis Peters says the increase is due to the higher prices the company must pay to obtain its channels.
Peters says Mediacom, the nation’s eighth-largest cable company, will pay “tens of millions of dollars” more for programming in 2011 than it did this year.
New York-based Mediacom has reported a $4 million dollar loss for the quarter ending September 30th.
