(Arnolds Park)– The Board of Directors of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum held their annual meeting Sunday in conjunction with “Save The Park Days”.
Board President Mike Johnson reviewed the past year’s accomplishments and looked ahead to the future. He outlined three priorities for the year ahead. Among them is getting the park out of debt. According to a financial report presented at the meeting, the Maritime Museum has long-term debt of 2.3 million dollars with about 2.5 million in pledges still to be collected. Johnson urges anyone who has yet to fulfill their pledge to do so as soon as possible. Establishing an endowment for the Maritime Museum and seeing an expansion of the facility that would include an Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame is among the goals Johnson wants to accomplish. Johnson says work on the museum expansion won’t start until they have the money actually in hand.
