(Sibley)– A Sibley man pled guilty in Osceola County District Court to a charge of burglary in the third degree as a habitual offender…a class “D” felony; and operating while under the influence of a controlled substance…a serious misdemeanor.
28-year-old Craig Ammerman was ordered to pay a fine of $2,524 plus restitution.
On the burglary charge, Ammerman was sentenced to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections not to exceed 15 years, with all that time suspended. He was placed on formal probation for three years.
On the operating while under the influence of a controlled substance charge, Ammerman was sentenced to imprisonment for a year and ordered to undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with treatment recommendations.
According to court documents, Ammerman is accused of entering J & M Liquor in Sibley after business hours by breaking out a drive-up window.
Upon arriving deputies saw a silver Pontiac Bonneville with its trunk open parked on the west side of the business. Following a subsequent search, Ammerman was found hiding inside the cooler in the back of the store.
