(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against three Spirit Lake juveniles accused of throwing rocks at vehicles from the roof of the Great Lakes Mall.
Police were called to the scene around 6:20 p.m. Sunday. It’s believed the teens gained access by shimmying up some natural gas pipes on the west side of the building.
Upon arriving at the scene, an officer spotted two of the juveniles on the ground by the laundromat on the southwest side of the mall…where they had jumped off. A third juvenile was found on the ground a short time later on the east side of the mall. Authorities say that teen jumped off the roof of the former Hy-Vee store onto a solarium-type addition…sliding down to the parking lot.
No injuries were reported to the juveniles. All three were charged with criminal mischief and warned for trespassing. They were referred to juvenile authorities.
