(Spirit Lake)– If our most recent Explore Okoboji on-line poll is any indication, public support for any proposal to form a regional fire department in the lakes corridor is severely lacking.
Only 21 percent of those who responded to our poll were in favor of such a concept, while a whopping 79 percent were opposed.
Talk of a regional fire department has increased recently as Wahpeton is at odds over how a new fire station to be built in Milford would be funded. Wahpeton’s Mayor was directed by the city council earlier this week to meet with lakes area mayors to see if they’d be interested in starting up talks of a regional fire department with the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors.
