(Spirit Lake)– Construction of a new parking lot just east of Lakes Regional Healthcare is complete and officials say it should be opened today (Tues.). The hospital’s board of trustees were informed of that at their regular monthly meeting Monday. The new parking lot was constructed in conjunction with the hospital’s expansion project. Grading work on the first phase is underway. The existing parking lot on the south side of the hospital will be closed in the near future to accomodate the project, resulting in the need for the new lot to the east.
The first phase of the project, which consists of building new single occupancy patient rooms, is slated for completion one year from now. Following that, remodeling of some existing patient rooms will get underway.
