(Spirit Lake)– The board of trustees of Lakes Regional Healthcare Monday were informed of an upcoming project to upgrade the hospital’s electrical service.
Hospital CEO Rich Kielman told the board it’s in response to a consultant’s recommendation calling for a larger electrical transformer to better handle the hospital’s load which has been steadily increasing with the addition of new equipment.
Kielman says Alliant Energy will install the new transformer, and that the hospital will need to upgrade its electrical system to handle the increased capacity.
It was the concensus of the board to proceed in getting plans and specifications for the project, which would be let for competitive bidding. Kielman said the project would be targeted for completion next spring.
Trustees also Monday approved nearly 21-thousand dollars in changeorders for the hospital remodeling project.
