(Spirit Lake)– The board of trustees of Lakes Regional Healthcare Monday adopted a budget for the upcoming fiscal year that reflects an increase in the amount of tax revenue the hospital gets from the county.
Gordon Larson, Chief Financial Officer for LRH, say there are two big factors behind the increased asking. In the past the hospital’s asking from the county was 103-thousand dollars…roughly the cost of buying an ambulance on an annual basis. This year, Larson says the hospital is being forced to increase its asking to 475-thousand. He says that reflects no increase in funding for public health; and payments from various sources, especially Medicare, for the ambulance service continues to decrease.
The trustees voted unanimously to adopt the budget following a hearing that drew no public comment.
