(Spirit Lake)– There will be no major changes in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
Gordon Larson, the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer, says the amount of county taxpayer support being requested for the upcoming fiscal year will be the same as it has been the past several years–103-thousand dollars. That money is used to keep the hospital’s fleet of five ambulances up to date.
Otherwise, Larson says the hospital relies on its patient revenue to cover the rest of its budget. Larson says LRH is very fortunate in that it’s in that position. He says many hospitals the same size of Lakes Regional aren’t, and as a result have to rely on a much higher level of taxpayer support.
The board of trustees of Lakes Regional Healthcare adopted the budget for the upcoming fiscal year following a public hearing at their meeting earlier this week that drew no comments.
