(Spirit Lake)– The growing needs of healthcare in the Iowa Great Lakes and the eventual retirement of current physicians has officials with Lakes Regional Healthcare and its associated Avera Medical Group involved in an effort to recruit new physicians.
Specifically, LRH President Jason Harrington says they have an immediate need for a family physician that does obstetrics to fill a vacancy at Avera-Lakes Family Practice.
Harrington says they’re putting feelers out among residents to see if they know of such phsycians that would like to relocate in the Iowa Great Lakes. Anyone that may know of a physician that may be willing to relocate here should contact Harrington at 336-8795.
Harrington says in the past the Iowa Great Lakes has had an advantage in attracting new physicians due to what the area has to offer. But he says that isn’t necessarily the case now, as recruitment has become much more competitive. He says every family physician that does O.B. that comes out of residency right now receives atleast three job offers.
