(Spirit Lake)– It was a fond farewell Tuesday for three longtime members of the Spirit Lake city council.
Pat McNorton, Bob Cosens and Terry Yarns lost out in their re-election bids in the November Municipal Elections. They sat at the council table for a final time Tuesday evening.
Cosens thanked the community for allowing him the opportunity to serve, saying he’s very proud to have played a role in the city’s growth over the recent years.
Yarns echoed the comment, saying the decision was made early in his tenure to have a long range development plan for the city addressing housing, business development and city betterment. He challenged the new council to keep those things going.
McNorton says he, too, is very proud to have been able to participate in that vision, and see the progress actually take place. He also thanked the community for giving him the opportunity to serve.
Kevin Bice, Jerry Harbst and Jeff Thee officially take their seats on the city council the first of the year.
