Local Unemployment Rates Increase In January

(Undated)– There was a significant increase in the local unemployment rate in January according to statistics released today by Iowa Workforce Development.

According to the report, Dickinson county’s jobless rate increased more than a percentage point…going from 3.7 percent in December to 5.8 percent in January.

Other counties in the area posted increases as well. In Emmet county, unemployment went from 5.6 percent in December to 7.8 percent; Clay county went from 3.6 percent in December to 4.6 percent in January; Osceola went from three and-a-half percent in December to four and-a-half percent in January; Palo Alto county also increased a full percent…going from 3.3 percent in December to 4.3 percent in January; and O’Brien county went from 3.1 percent in December to 4.1 percent in January.
