Local Unemployment Increases Again In March

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– Iowa Workforce Development is out with its unemployment figures for the month of March.

The latest numbers show a continued growth in the jobless rate for the Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity. The combined rate for Clay and Dickinson counties increased to four and-a-half percent…compared with four-point-four percent in February and three-point-nine percent in March, 2002.

Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Corridor of Opportunity, says even though the increase from a month ago was very slight, that he was hopeful the trend would have reversed.

March unemployment rates in neighboring counties included Emmet at 5.6 percent; O’Brien, 4.3 percent; Osceola at 3.8 percent; and Palo Alto at 3.7 percent.
