(Undated)– With fall here you’d think road work would be wrapping up for the season. But just the opposite is true this year, as several projects in the area are about to kick into high gear as we approach mid-October.
For example, the Iowa Department of Transportation’s regional construction office in Cherokee says maintenance work will restrict traffic to one lane on Highways Nine and Four near Estherville beginning October 18th. The work is scheduled to last until November 3rd.
D.O.T officials say Highway Four will be restricted to one lane from Highway Nine in Estherville to the Minnesota border; and Highway Nine will be restricted to one lane between Highway 71, or the Jackson “Y” a mile west of Superior, to the intersection with Highway Four in Estherville.
Motorists in portions of O’Brien and Buena Vista counties will be impacted by projects in those areas as well. D.O.T officials say Highway 10 will be limited to one lane of traffic between Highway 59 near Sutherland and Highway 71 near Sioux Rapids. That project is expected to begin this coming Monday, October 11th, and is slated to continue until about Friday, October 22nd…weather permitting.
Officials say the restrictions will be in place Mondays through Fridays, and possibly some Saturdays. Motorists will be assisted through the work zones with flaggers and a pilot car.
They say the roadways will be returned to normal traffic when workers aren’t present.
