Local Guard Unit Activated

(Jackson, Mn.)– Another local National Guard Unit is being called to active duty.

The First Battalion, 125th Artillery with units in Jackson, Fairmont, Luverne, St. James, Pipestone, Anoka, New Ulm and St. Peter, Minnesota is one of four Minnesota National Guard units involved in the latest call-up.

More than 500 soldiers will be deployed to Europe for about six months. They’ll provide security at U-S military installations.

Other units being activated include the 34th Division Artillery, based in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Battery F, 151st Field Artillery from Cambridge, Minnesota; and Company B, 682nd Engineer Battalion from Hutchinson, Minnesota.
