Local Delegation To Travel To Washington, D.C.

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– City officials from Spencer and a Milford businessman are taking a trip to the nation’s capitol to talk with congressional leaders about roads.

The delegation, made up of Spencer Mayor Reynold Peterson, Spencer City Manager Dean Torreson, Spencer city councilman Rich Prentice, and Milford businessman Herman Richter–are heading to Washington, D.C. Tuesday (4/19) to meet with Fifth District Congressman Steve King along with Senators Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley.

Torreson says the discussion will deal specifically over funding for the Spencer by-pass and improvements to Highway 86 between Highway nine and the Minnesota border.

Torreson says he met recently with D-O-T officials about the possibility of the Spencer By-pass being included in the agency’s five-year plan, but he says they aren’t very optimistic about that happening.
