(Sioux City)– The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 3A Judicial District has received 13 applications for the judgeship that will be created by the retirement of Judge Frank B. Nelson at the end of the year.
Those applying include Mike Johnson and John Sandy…both of Spirit Lake; John Greer, Nancy Whittenburg and Mike Zenor…all of Spencer; Robert Hansen of Sibley; Peter Hart of Emmetsburg; Philip Havens and Steven Roth…both of Storm Lake; Francis Honrath of Inwood; William Klinker of Primghar; Robert Sease of Hartley and Randy Waagmeester of Rock Rapids.
Each applicant will have an opportunity to appear before the entire nominating commission for a personal interview this Thursday at the Clay county courthouse in Spencer. The commission will then submit the names of two nominees to Governor Vilsack who will have 30 days to appoint one of the nominees to be a District Judge.
Judicial District 3A includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
