(Undated)– The U-S Department of Justice has awarded more than 218-thousand dollars from the U-S Department of Justice’s Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program to help purchase more than a thousand bullet-proof vests.
Locally, the Arnolds Park Police Department was awarded 3,665-dollars; Buena Vista county will receive 4,450-dollars; Clay county was awarded 1,398-dollars; the Clay County Conservation Board will receive 860-dollars; 3,850-dollars was awarded to the Sheldon Police Department; and Storm Lake will receive slightly more than four thousand dollars.
The Bulletproof Vest Partnership Act of 2000 provides funds to help state and local law enforcement purchase bulletproof vests. Since 1999, over 11,500 jurisdictions have participated in the program, with 118 million dollars in federal funds helping to purchase an estimated 450-thousand vests.
