Liquor License App. For Queen II Dock Draws Discussion

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A liquor license application for the Queen Two dock drew some discussion at Wednesday’s Arnolds Park City Council meeting.

Councilman Jim Jensen, who represents the city on the Maritime Museum board of directors, told the council a 30 foot by 80 foot barge or deck is being constructed that will be situated just above the water surface near the Queen Two dock. He says it will accomodate those waiting to board the excursion boat with a food service and bar.

The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission recently approved the plans on a four-to-one vote, and the Arnolds Park Board of Adjustment Monday approved it three-to-one, with the stipulation the facility be open the same hours as the amusement park and that no alocohol be allowed off the structure. It will come up for review by the Board of Adjustment July 14th.

Based on that, the city council voted four-to-one to approve the lounge dock, with council member Mike Koppert casting the lone no vote.
