(Spirit Lake)– A close call Wednesday afternoon at a trailer house west of Spirit Lake.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says firefighters were called to 2120 130th Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. Jorgenson says an occupant of the residence reported smelling a strong odor of gas, and that a gas detector was going off. The resident was instructed to open some windows and get out, which she did.
The fire department stood by on the scene as the gas was shut off. Jorgenson says there was no fire or explosion. He says it was determined the gas was leaking from a malfunctioning burner on a stove.
Spirit Lake firefighters were on the scene less than an hour.
