Lakes Area State Park To Receive Federal Funding

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A state park in the Iowa Great Lakes Area will share in 244-thousand dollars in federal funding that’s been awarded to three Iowa state parks.

The grants have been awarded to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources through the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Locally, Marble Beach State Park on the northwest side of Big Spirit Lake will receive 110-thousand dollars in matching funds to assist in the development of a shower/restroom facility.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides grants on a 50/50 matching basis to states that help state and local governments acquire, develop, improve and maintain high quality outdoor recreation areas and open space.
