Lakes Area City Looks At Increasing Sewer Rates

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– Milford residents could soon be seeing an increase in sewer rates.

The city council earlier this week held the first reading of an ordinance to increase them from the current rate of 70 cents per thousand gallons of water used to 80.

City Administrator Brian Reed says the increase is needed to fund some badly needed repairs to the city’s aging sewer system…which is having problems in some areas with tree roots and other issues.

Reed isn’t sure when Milford’s sewer rates were last adjusted, but he says it’s been awhile.

On another issue, the Milford City Council has adopted a resolution for a voluntary annexation on Lower Gar Lake. Reed says it involves two acres of land just north of South Shore Estates.
