(Okoboji)– Authorities have released the name of a man injured in a snowmobile accident Saturday evening on West Lake Okoboji.
He’s identified as 37-year-old Michael R. McClain of Lake Park.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says McClain was operating a snowmobile northbound when he collided with an ice heave about a quarter mile off of Pike’s Point State Park on West Lake Okoboji. McClain was thrown off the snowmobile as a result of the impact.
He was taken by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with a head injury and was transferred by Life Flight Helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls where he was released Sunday.
The snowmobile McClain was driving was totaled.
The mishap took place around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
